We all have those favorite places we like to shop for the essential things in our lives. For Band moms, the neighborhood music store is one of those essential places. In our community we are lucky to have a couple, but I want to shine the spotlight this week on Music & Arts in the Parkside Shopping Center.
This small shop has a wonderful selection of supplies for Band and String Instruments, along with Guitars, Drum kits and and gig equipment.
I’d like to tell a story about a boy who wanted some drum sticks and a practice pad. He plays a different instrument and his mom had just bought supplies for that and told him this purchase would be from his money only.
He goes into Music & Arts and explains that he has a very limited budget. The sales person takes him over and helps him select the items he can afford. The thing that impressed me was the care and respect the sales person showed even though this was not going to be a big sale.
I don’t know if they are paid commission or salary, but we’ve been other places where it just didn’t seem they were as interested in the small time or young inexperienced customer. I was really impressed! They just went out of their way to make his experience good.
As we were leaving he said “This is my favorite store!”.
