I’m not a contemporary music fan, so it’s no surprise that I didn’t watch the Grammy’s last week. I am a big talk radio fan, and during the course of the week there was a lot of conversation about Bonnie Rait winning the 2023 Song of the Year.
On the list of Nominees I only recognized a few names, none of the titles and admittedly I can’t say I’ve heard any of the songs, until today.
Today a friend posted the Song of the Year on her facebook page, and I clicked the button.
This is a message we all can use. Organ Donation – the subject of the song, is so important! Giving life to one, in the midst of loss gives death a purpose. In my mind, not in a ghoulish sort of way, but in a way to help make sense of our own grief and tragedy.
So if you are like me and haven’t heard this song. Take a listen. Consider that little box on your ID that says you are willing to give of yourself, when you are no longer in need of all your parts.
