Closing Day August 20, 2021

Every Closing is unique and this one was no exception. My seller had already gone back to their home state of Wisconsin. I’m grateful their son, who lives in the area and who referred them to me in the first place, was able to be their on their behalf.

When a homeowner is not able to attend a closing there are several ways their documents can be completed. In this case the seller had a relative sign a specific Power of Attorney document that allowed their son sign for them.

Another option is what is called a Mail away closing. Instructions are mailed to the party needing to sign. A mobile notary or other entity is arranged to witness the document signing session and then the documents are sent back digitally and the ink signed documents are returned overnight to complete the signing.

There is always a way to complete this process.
